Let me just get this out there in the open: I’m not a marriage counselor. In fact, I myself have only been married a few years.
So what gives me the right to hold a marriage seminar?
If there’s one thing I do know, it’s what it takes to make a good team. It’s also my belief that a married couple is at its core a team! While my wife and I were getting to know each other before we got married, I was busy training teams to recognize the Six Levels of Teamwork. Gradually I began to realize that these same levels they were walking through were ironically being paralleled by my date life.
Suddenly it hit me: if married and engaged couples knew how to:
- Communicate well
- Trust each other
- Handle conflicts in a healthy way
- Commit to honoring the relationship
- Stay accountable to your spouse
- Pursue a respectable result in your marriage
If you are married, you undoubtedly recognize the needs of all of these levels. However, not everyone does. Many couples struggle with one or more of these much-needed characteristics of a healthy marriage. If even one characteristic is weak, the whole structure can be unbalanced.
How can Synergy Factory help married couples?
Taking on the same structure as my popular Teambuilding Workshops, I’ll tweak each game, activity, and conversation to relate to the area of marriage. Couples will interact with each other and with other couples, exploring the pillars of a strong marriage. But don’t expect to get into a heated discussion about your pet-peeves you have with your spouse.
Because of the nature of our workshops and seminars, we’re able to keep it light-hearted and fun! I know how important it is to have those deep conversations with your spouse. But I also know and appreciate the importance of having fun with your partner! Our games and strategic activities are designed to keep your group of couples smiling and laughing, thinking and engaging, healing and loving.
If you think your church could benefit from hosting a marriage seminar such as this, we’d love to hear from you. Maybe you are a marriage counselor who conducts his own seminars… let’s work together! We can integrate our sessions to complement each other and balance the best of both worlds.
